The wicked witch of the ouest has banished herself from the castle. I am but a lowly handmaiden comforting the forlorn queen. I feel bad that Cara feels so hard done by, but I am possibly her only hope in this household and ironically probably the last person she will turn to. When I moved in here I had all these hopes of us becoming really good friends, going to coffee, braiding each other's hair. Sisters. But I wasn't good enough for her, I was too "wierd" (quote). That hurt. I think she wanted Adam to marry some girly girl with fake nails and an orange tan and an equal disrespect for authority. His mother and brother are very happy indeed that he came my way instead. I fear that Karen is starting to think of me as a replacement daughter. Don't get me wrong, that's great for me, I love her dearly, but that's very bad for Cara. I want to heal the rift between them, but maybe, inadvertantly, just by being here, I have widened it.
